Fidelity is a small village located in Jasper County, Missouri, in the United States. It's a quiet place with a population of 227 people, based on the 2020 census. Fidelity is part of the larger Joplin Metropolitan Statistical Area.

A Look Back: Fidelity's History

Fidelity was officially planned and marked out as a town in 1856. Before that, a post office was opened in Fidelity in 1855. This post office served the community for many years, finally closing its doors in 1901.

Where is Fidelity?

Fidelity is found in the southern part of Jasper County. It's located right along U.S. 71, just a mile south of I-44. The larger city of Joplin is about ten miles to the west. Carthage, another nearby city, is six miles north of Fidelity.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the village covers a total area of about 0.97 square miles (2.50 square kilometers). All of this area is land, meaning there are no large bodies of water within the village limits.

Based on the census from 2010, there were 257 people living in Fidelity. These people made up 109 households, with 62 of them being families. The village had about 265 people per square mile.

Most of the people living in Fidelity were White (96.9%). A small number were African American (0.4%) or Native American (1.6%). About 1.2% of the population identified with two or more races. People of Hispanic or Latino background made up 1.6% of the total population.
