Finley is a community located in Benton County, Washington, in the United States. It is called a census-designated place (CDP). This means it is an area that the United States Census Bureau uses for collecting statistics. However, it is not a formally incorporated town or city. In 2020, about 6,152 people lived in Finley. It is found to the southeast of the larger city of Kennewick.

History of Finley

The community of Finley was named after an early settler, George E. Finley. A post office was opened in Finley in 1906. It served the community for many years, until it closed in 1935. The area also includes a smaller community known as Hedges.

Geography and Location

Finley is located at 46°10′32″N 119°3′26″W / 46.17556°N 119.05722°W / 46.17556; -119.05722. This means it is in the southeastern part of Washington state.

According to the United States Census Bureau, Finley covers a total area of about 14.6 square miles (37.7 square kilometers). Most of this area, about 11.5 square miles (29.8 square kilometers), is land. The rest, about 3.0 square miles (7.9 square kilometers), is water. This means that about 20.88% of Finley's total area is covered by water.
