Fire reedgrass is a perennial plant, which means it lives for more than two years. It's a bunch grass, meaning it grows in clumps or bunches. Its stems, called culms, can grow up to 80 centimeters (about 31 inches) long.

How Does Fire Reedgrass Look?

The plant has a dense group of tiny flowers called inflorescences. These flowers are arranged in a tight cluster along the stem. Each small flower part, called a spikelet, is about 6 millimeters (about 0.2 inches) long. Each spikelet also has a stiff, bent, or twisted part called an awn.
