About the Firesteel River
The Firesteel River begins its journey at a place called Trap Lake. This lake is about 3 kilometers (2 miles) east of a spot known as George. It's also about 19 kilometers (12 miles) north of the community of Upsala.
From Trap Lake, the river flows generally towards the southwest. As it travels, it passes under some important transportation routes. These include the tracks of the Canadian National Railway and the Canadian Pacific Railway mainline. It also flows beneath Ontario Highway 17, a major road.
The river's path ends when it reaches the Seine River. This meeting point is located about 28 kilometers (17 miles) west of Upsala. The Firesteel River plays a role in the natural water system of this part of Ontario.
What Rivers Join It?
Smaller rivers and streams that flow into a larger river are called tributaries. The Firesteel River has several tributaries that add to its water volume. These streams join the Firesteel River at different points along its course.
