Fishersburg is located in Stony Creek Township, within Madison County, Indiana.
Fishersburg's Story
Fishersburg began in 1837. This is when the community was "laid out," meaning its streets and lots were planned. A person named Charles Fisher opened the very first store here.
Also in 1837, Fishersburg got its own post office. This was a place where people could send and receive mail. The post office served the community for many years, but it eventually closed in 1904.
Where is Fishersburg?
Fishersburg is located in the middle of Indiana. It sits just west of a larger town called Lapel. You can find Fishersburg where two main roads meet: Indiana State Road 32 and Indiana State Road 13.
To its west, Fishersburg shares a border with Hamilton County. Anderson, which is the main city of Madison County, is about 10 miles (16 km) to the east along State Road 32. Noblesville, the main city of Hamilton County, is about 8 miles (13 km) to the west.
