Flávio da Conceição (born June 12, 1974) is a Brazilian former professional footballer. He played as a defensive midfielder.
Flávio had a great career, especially in Spain. He played for two big clubs there, including Real Madrid. With Real Madrid, he won six major championships! He also played for the Brazilian national team over 40 times.

Flávio's Football Journey
Starting in Brazil
Flávio was born in Santa Maria da Serra, São Paulo, Brazil. He started his football career with Rio Branco in 1992. A year later, in 1993, he joined Palmeiras. He played over 100 games for Palmeiras. His strong performances caught the eye of clubs in Spain.
Playing in Spain
After the 1996 Summer Olympics, a Spanish club called Deportivo de La Coruña signed Flávio. He quickly became a very important player for them. He played in the middle of the field alongside his teammate Mauro Silva. Flávio helped Deportivo become a top team in Spanish football. In the 1999–2000 La Liga season, he scored four goals in 27 games. This helped his team win the league championship!
Moving to Real Madrid
In 2000, Flávio moved to another famous Spanish team, Real Madrid. This was a very big move for him. While at Real Madrid, he helped them win two league titles. He also won the 2001–02 UEFA Champions League, which is a huge European club competition. In that Champions League season, he even helped set up a goal in a big semi-final win against FC Barcelona.
Loan to Borussia Dortmund
During the 2003–04 season, Flávio played on loan for Borussia Dortmund in Germany. A loan means he played for them for a short time before returning to his main club.
Later Career in Turkey and Greece
In 2004, Flávio moved to Turkey to play for Galatasaray. In his first and only season there, he won the Turkish Cup. After that, he signed with Panathinaikos in Greece. Flávio faced some injuries and lost his good form. He retired from football at the age of 32.
Playing for Brazil
Flávio played 45 games for the Brazilian national team and scored four goals. He was part of the Brazil teams that won the Copa América in 1997 and 1999. The Copa América is a major football tournament for South American countries. He also played in two FIFA Confederations Cup tournaments. In the 1997 edition, Brazil won the championship! Flávio also won a bronze medal at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta. However, he was never chosen to play in a FIFA World Cup.
