This means it's a recognized area for counting people, but it's not officially a city or town. Folsom is located in Delaware County and is part of Ridley Township. In 2020, about 8,287 people lived here.

Where is Folsom Located?

Folsom is found in the northern part of Ridley Township. It is about 11 miles (18 km) southwest of Center City, Philadelphia.

Neighboring Towns and Areas

Folsom shares its borders with several other places. To the northwest, you'll find the borough of Swarthmore. To the north are Springfield Township and the borough of Rutledge.

On the east side, it's bordered by Pennsylvania Route 420. To the southeast is the borough of Prospect Park. The borough of Ridley Park is to the south, and Woodlyn (also in Ridley Township) is to the southwest.

The First Wawa Store

Folsom holds a special place in the history of Wawa convenience stores. The very first Wawa store ever opened right here in Folsom!

It opened on April 16, 1964. This original store was located at the corner of MacDade Boulevard and Swarthmore Avenue. It served the community for many years.

However, on June 27, 2016, the original Wawa store closed. A new, bigger "super Wawa" opened nearby down the street. To celebrate this big change, a parade was held from the old Wawa to the new one.
