History of Fontainebleau
The name "Fontainebleau" comes from a very famous resort in Miami Beach, Florida. Back in 1970, the original owner of that resort, Ben Novack, had a big idea. He wanted to build his own huge community. This community would have a golf course, a resort, and homes. He planned to call it Fontainebleau Park.
However, Novack ran into money problems. The Fontainebleau Park project even played a part in his hotel being taken over by banks in 1977. Later, a company called Trafalgar Developers took over the project. They built the community and kept the "Fontainebleau" name. But when they opened it in the 1970s, they didn't mention any connection to the famous hotel.
The community of Fontainebleau Park was designed with many smaller "villages." These villages were built around two 18-hole golf courses. These golf courses are now closed and have homes built on them. The community included different types of homes. There were condominiums, apartments, single-family homes, and townhomes.
