Forest City is a small city located in Holt County, Missouri, in the United States. In 2020, the city had a population of 243 people.

History of Forest City

Forest City was officially planned and laid out in 1857. The city got its name because of the many trees, or "dense forest," that grew near where the town was first built. A post office has been operating in Forest City since 1857.

The City Hall building in Forest City is very important. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1980. This means it is a special place recognized for its historical value.
