Artemis Fowl I
Artemis Fowl I is the dad of the Fowl family. He is married to Angeline Fowl and is the father of Artemis Fowl II, Beckett Fowl, and Myles Fowl. He used to lead the family's unusual business ventures. Before the first book, he decided to make all the family's businesses completely legal.
After the Soviet Union broke apart, he tried to start new trade connections with Russia. He took the family ship, the Fowl Star, filled with 250,000 cans of cola from Ireland to Russia. But he was captured by a group in Russia near Murmansk. After an explosion, he was found missing a leg.
After more than a year, he was officially declared missing. His son, Artemis Fowl II, was motivated by the money the family lost to start his own adventures, which you read about in the first book. Much of the money from these adventures was spent on trying to find him in the Arctic. In the second book, The Arctic Incident, Artemis Fowl II learns his father is alive. He sets out to rescue him while also helping to save the fairy world from a big rebellion.
Artemis Fowl II
Artemis Fowl II is the main character of the Artemis Fowl series. He is the son of Artemis Fowl I and Angeline Fowl. People often call him "Artemis" or "Arty," especially his mom and Captain Holly Short.
Artemis is super smart. He even wrote for a science journal using a fake name. He has the highest tested IQ in Europe! After the fifth book, he has a hazel eye, thanks to Captain Holly Short. Also, his index and middle fingers switched places because of time travel. He might be the only person who truly understands Foaly's cool gadgets. Artemis also has a bit of magic now, but it caused him to develop something called Atlantis Complex. He later gets help for it.
Angeline Fowl
Angeline Fowl is the wife of Artemis Fowl I and the mother of Artemis Fowl II. When her husband disappeared, she became very sad and unwell. A school counselor said she couldn't control Artemis's behavior. This allowed Artemis to get involved in his unusual money-making plans before and during the first book. She calls Artemis "Arty," just like his dad does. Her name is also often used when Artemis sends fake letters, emails, or makes phone calls.
Beckett Fowl
Beckett Fowl is one of the Fowl twins, mentioned in Artemis Fowl and the Time Paradox and Artemis Fowl and the Atlantis Complex. He is the younger twin. Beckett seems to be of average intelligence and likes to point at himself while talking about himself in the third person. He is also quite good at finding solutions. Beckett sometimes doesn't understand what certain words mean. He calls himself a "simple-toon" more than once. He enjoys strange foods, like a mix of espresso and treacle, and even hamsters!
After tasting Artemis's hamster, Artemis put a lock on his lab. While Beckett's twin, Myles, figured out the code after several days, Beckett dug a bear trap for Myles. He then swapped the code for a ladder. In Artemis Fowl and the Last Guardian, Beckett is shown to be very coordinated, unlike his brothers. He even attacks a gnome serving Opal Koboi. This strength caught the attention of Oro, a leader of powerful spirits called Berzerkers, who then took over Beckett's body. Beckett only briefly gained control when Koboi allowed it. She expected a smart conversation from a Fowl, but was surprised when Beckett quickly punched her.
At the end of the book, Oro is partly freed so the spirit of a warlock named Bruin Fadda can talk about Koboi's plan. This action leads to Opal's death. When she orders Oro to kill her clone, Oro uses Beckett's body to stab Koboi. Because they were possessed by fairies, Beckett and his twin Myles are now considered one-quarter fairy.
Myles Fowl
Myles Fowl is the older and clearly smarter of the Fowl twins. He is very much like Artemis. He even potty trained himself at fourteen months old by building a ladder of encyclopedias to reach the toilet! In Artemis Fowl and the Last Guardian, it's mentioned that he thinks like someone ten years older than he is.
In Artemis Fowl and the Atlantis Complex, Myles accidentally messed up one of Artemis's science experiments because he wanted a sample for his own tests. After Artemis put a lock on his lab door, Myles stayed at the door for three days trying to figure out the combination. He used many rolls of toilet paper writing down all the possibilities. The combination was given to Beckett when Myles fell into a hole Beckett dug in the Fowl garden. Myles traded the combination for a ladder to get out.
In Artemis Fowl and the Last Guardian, Myles is taken over by the Berserkers, spirits who want to harm humans. Myles fights back and is freed by Artemis. He gives Artemis all the information he knows about the Berserkers. He believes Artemis cannot lose, even when Artemis himself has doubts. Since Myles was possessed, he and his twin Beckett are now considered one-quarter fairy.
