This made him only the second player from Liberia to win the foreign Player of the Year award in Cameroon. The first was the famous footballer George Weah. Francis Doe also helped his team reach the final of the CAF Cup, scoring six goals in eight matches.
In 2003, Francis Doe returned to Ghana and played for Buduburam.

In March 2007, Francis Doe and Atromitos decided to end their contract. He then had a short tryout with FC Dallas in the Major League Soccer (MLS). However, he couldn't join them because of rules about how many foreign players a team could have.
He then tried out for the New York Red Bulls and got a contract. On September 22, 2007, he scored his first MLS goal and helped set up another goal in a game against the New England Revolution. He played well for the Red Bulls, scoring two goals and getting one assist in eight games. He helped them reach the MLS playoffs.
