Franco Cristaldi (born October 3, 1924 – died July 1, 1992) was a famous Italian film producer. He helped create many movies from the 1950s all the way to the 1990s. He was known for working with some of the greatest directors in Italian cinema.

Franco Cristaldi's Career in Film
In 1946, Franco Cristaldi started his own company called Vides Cinematografica in Turin, Italy. At first, this company made short films and documentaries. Later, in the 1980s, it changed its name to Cristaldifilm.
Moving to Feature Films
In the 1950s, Cristaldi decided to focus on making longer movies, called feature films. He moved to Rome, which is a big center for filmmaking in Italy. Over his long career, he worked with many talented directors and writers. Some of these included Federico Fellini, Luchino Visconti, and Giuseppe Tornatore.

Franco Cristaldi produced many successful films that became popular around the world. Two of his most well-known movies were The Name of the Rose and Nuovo cinema Paradiso.

Franco Cristaldi's Personal Life
Franco Cristaldi was born in Turin in 1924. He went to university for a while, but his main passion was always cinema.
He was first married to Carla Simonetti, and they had a son named Massimo. Later, he lived with the actress Claudia Cardinale starting in 1966. Cristaldi helped guide Claudia Cardinale's acting career and produced many of her films. They separated in 1975. In 1983, he married another actress, Zeudi Araya, who also starred in some of his movies.
Franco Cristaldi passed away in Montecarlo, Monaco, in 1992. He was survived by his wife Zeudi, his son Massimo, and his adopted son Patrick.
