Frank Williams Jr. (born May 29, 1932 – died July 13, 2006) was an American football player. He was known for playing as a halfback and fullback. He played for teams like the BC Lions in Canada and the Los Angeles Rams in the United States.
Early Life and College Football
Frank Williams Jr. was born on May 29, 1932, in Bowie County, Texas. His parents were Frank Williams and Elya M. Glenn. He was one of four children in his family. Even though his birth certificate had a small mistake in his name, he was truly a "Junior," named after his father. He often went by Frank James Williams.
Frank showed his talent for football early on. He played college football at Pepperdine University. He was a strong player there. After college, he was chosen to play for the BC Lions.
Professional Football Career
Frank Williams Jr. started his professional football journey with the BC Lions in 1955. He played as a halfback and fullback. These positions are important for running with the ball and blocking.
Later in his career, Frank also played for the Los Angeles Rams. This was in 1961. Playing for both Canadian and American teams showed his skill.
Military Service and Later Life
Before his football career, Frank Williams Jr. served his country. He was a sergeant in the United States Army. He served during the Korean War. This was a conflict that took place from 1950 to 1953.
Frank Williams Jr. had six children. These included Shelia, Casandra, and Michelle Williams. He passed away on July 13, 2006. He is buried in Kent, Washington, at the Tahoma National Cemetery.
