History of Frankfort

Frankfort was officially marked out and planned in 1882. This process is called "platting." Some people believe the city was named after Frankfurt, a city in Germany. Others think it was named after Frankfort I. Fisher, who was an early settler in the area. A post office has been open in Frankfort since 1882, helping people send and receive mail for over a century.
