Franklin and the Turtle Lake Treasure is an exciting animated adventure movie for kids. It came out on September 6, 2006. This film is based on the popular Franklin TV show. It was the first Franklin movie to be shown in movie theaters in Canada and France.

The story follows Franklin the turtle on a big journey. His Granny gets sick, and Franklin's Aunt Lucy, who studies old things, thinks a special talisman might help her. So, Franklin, Aunt Lucy, and his friends Bear, Beaver, and Snail go on a quest to find it. They are also joined by Aunt Lucy's goddaughter, Samantha, or "Sam." Franklin and Sam often disagree, which causes some funny moments!

This movie was released directly to DVD in the United States by HBO. It has also been shown on TV channels like Nick Jr.. The writer, John van Bruggen, said this film would be Franklin's biggest adventure yet. It was also the last story in the 1997 Franklin TV series.

The Story of Franklin's Adventure

The movie begins with a flashback to Granny Turtle's childhood. She buried a special box of memories near a turtle-shaped lake. Later, a big forest fire destroyed her home and she lost her parents. She never went back to find her buried box.

In the present, Franklin is playing pirates with his friends. His Aunt Lucy arrives and introduces her goddaughter, Sam. Franklin and Sam don't get along very well at first. Aunt Lucy shows them a map to Granny's old memory box. Franklin and Sam decide to ask Granny about it. Granny tells them the sad story of the fire and how she lost her home and parents.

Granny's Illness and the Quest

Soon after, Granny becomes very sick. Franklin and his friends believe that finding Granny's memory box might be the only way to help her feel better. So, Franklin, Sam, Aunt Lucy, Bear, Beaver, and Snail set off on an adventure. They want to find Granny's old home and the hidden box.

During their journey, Sam plays a trick on Beaver, which makes Beaver upset. Later, they follow some butterflies and meet a wise old turtle. This turtle gives them a special item that Granny also has.

New Friends and Challenges

The next day, they meet a young orphan bird named Little Crow. Little Crow shows them where Granny's house used to be. They find that the memory box is gone! After visiting the spot, Little Crow leads Snail to a nest with three baby birds.

Meanwhile, Franklin and Sam continue to argue. Little Crow gets upset because the baby chicks won't let him play with Snail. As Franklin and Sam try to rescue Snail, Sam almost falls but Franklin saves her. They decide to rest and finally apologize to each other. They realize their disagreements were getting in the way.

Finding the Treasure and Returning Home

They reach the nest and try to get Snail back. Little Crow helps Snail escape, but they all fall. Luckily, the mother bird saves them. Aunt Lucy, Bear, and Beaver arrive and help everyone down. They decide that Little Crow should stay with the mother bird.

The group continues their journey and finds a chasm. They hear a voice and help a large bear named Big Bear. Big Bear takes them to his home. It turns out Big Bear had dug up Granny's memory box while digging! They thank him and he gives them his canoe for a shortcut home.

On their way back, they see Little Crow flying happily with the mother bird. They also see the wise old turtle again. They make it back just in time to give Granny her special items from the box. These include her dad's fishing hook, a picture of her old house, and a photo of her as a baby with her parents. Granny smiles and gets better!

The movie ends with the family having a picnic. Franklin and Sam dance with Harriet. They realize it's almost time for school and will miss each other. Franklin gives Sam Granny's map as a reminder of their summer adventure. Aunt Lucy says that life is full of surprises.
