Françoise Lake is a freshwater lake located in the southern part of the Eeyou Istchee James Bay (municipality) in Quebec, Canada. It's found in the administrative region of Nord-du-Québec. The lake stretches across the Grandis and du Guesclin townships, southwest of Chapais, Quebec.
The main activity around Françoise Lake is forestry, which means cutting down trees for wood. After forestry, fun outdoor activities like tourism are popular. The area has a large network of waterways, including Father Lake and Doda Lake, which are great for boating. Doda Lake is actually a wider part of the Opawica River.
You can get to Françoise Lake using forest road R1051 from the north. This road leads to a big piece of land that sticks out into the lake. This land is surrounded by Du Guesclin Lake and Françoise Lake to the north, and Doda Lake to the east and south. Father Lake (Doda Lake tributary) is to the southwest.
Françoise Lake is usually frozen solid from early November until mid-May. However, it's safest to walk or play on the ice from mid-November to mid-April.
