Lachmipersad Frederik "Fred" Ramdat Misier (born October 28, 1926 – died July 25, 2004) was an important leader in Suriname. He served as the third President of Suriname from 1982 to 1988.

His Early Life
Fred Ramdat Misier was born in Paramaribo, Suriname, on October 28, 1926. His parents were Rampargas Ramdat Misier and Ramkali Durgadulare.
He later married Hilda Doergadei Dewanchand (1924–2021) on January 28, 1953. She was from a place called Onverwacht. In 1958, Fred and Hilda moved to the Netherlands. There, Fred studied law at Utrecht University.
Leading Suriname
Before becoming president, Fred Ramdat Misier had several important jobs. He worked as a teacher and a lawyer. He also served as the president of the Court of Justice.
On February 8, 1982, the head of the military, Dési Bouterse, chose Fred Ramdat Misier to be the third president of Suriname. As president, he played a key role in bringing democracy back to the country. He oversaw the democratic elections in November 1987. These elections chose Ramsewak Shankar as the next president. Fred Ramdat Misier was succeeded by Shankar in February 1988.
His Legacy
Fred Ramdat Misier passed away on July 25, 2004, when he was 77 years old. He died in Paramaribo, the capital city of Suriname.
After his death, former president Jules Wijdenbosch spoke about Ramdat Misier's work. He said that Fred Ramdat Misier "played a vital role in Suriname's new democratic gestation." This means he was very important in helping Suriname become a democratic country again. He helped bring many good changes to the country.
Fred Ramdat Misier was survived by his wife, Hilda Doergadei Dewanchand. His cremation ceremony was held on July 30. Many important people attended, including former president Wijdenbosch and the president at that time, Ronald Venetiaan.
