Fred Robbins (born March 25, 1977) is an American former professional football player. He played as a defensive tackle in the National Football League (NFL). A defensive tackle is a strong player who tries to stop the other team's offense.
Robbins played college football for the Wake Forest Demon Deacons. He was chosen by the Minnesota Vikings in the second round of the 2000 NFL draft. He also played for the New York Giants and the St. Louis Rams. One of his biggest achievements was winning the Super Bowl XLII with the New York Giants.

Early Life and High School Football
Fred Robbins grew up in Pensacola, Florida. He went to J. M. Tate High School in Cantonment, Florida. While there, he was a talented athlete in both football and baseball.
In football, he played for three years on the varsity team. As a senior, he was recognized as one of the best players in his city and in Northwest Florida.
College Football Career
Robbins played college football at Wake Forest University. He was a starting defensive tackle for three years. During his college career, he made 15 quarterback sacks. A sack is when a defensive player tackles the opposing team's quarterback behind the line of scrimmage. He also had 44 tackles-for-loss, which means he stopped offensive players behind where they started.
In his senior year (1999), he was named a Second-team All-ACC player. He helped his team's defense improve a lot, moving from 9th to 2nd best in the ACC.

Minnesota Vikings
The Minnesota Vikings picked Fred Robbins in the second round of the 2000 NFL draft. He signed a four-year contract with the team.
In his first year (2000), he played in 8 games as a reserve player. He made 5 tackles and had one sack. In 2001, he played in all 16 games and started 12 of them. He recorded 45 tackles and 2 sacks.
In 2002, Robbins started 15 games for the Vikings. He had 41 tackles and led the team with 7 tackles for loss. He also defended 4 passes. In 2003, he played in all 16 games, starting 12. He finished with 30 tackles and recovered one fumble.
New York Giants
In 2004, Fred Robbins joined the New York Giants. He signed a six-year contract. In his first season with the Giants, he started 15 games. He had 40 tackles, 5 sacks, and 2 forced fumbles.
In 2005, he played in all 16 games. He finished the season with 23 tackles and 1.5 sacks. The next year, in 2006, Robbins started all 16 regular season games. He had a career-high 62 tackles and 5.5 sacks. He also made 2 interceptions, which is when a defensive player catches a pass meant for an offensive player.
The 2007 season was a big one for Robbins and the Giants. He played in all 16 regular season games and started all 4 playoff games. He had 42 tackles and 5.5 sacks. Most importantly, he helped the Giants win Super Bowl XLII!
For the 2008 season, his teammates chose him to be a defensive captain. He started 14 games and had 36 tackles and 5.5 sacks. This was his third year in a row with 5.5 sacks, which was his personal best. He was also named to the 2008 Sports Illustrated All-Pro team, meaning he was considered one of the best players in the league.
After the 2008 season, Robbins had surgery. In 2009, he played in all 16 games but only had 2 sacks.
St. Louis Rams
In 2010, Fred Robbins signed a three-year contract with the St. Louis Rams. He played for the Rams for two seasons. He was released by the team in March 2012, after the 2011 season.

Fred Robbins is married to his wife, Tia. They have two sons together.
Fred and Tia Robbins started a non-profit organization called Mr. Robbins Neighborhood. This organization helps high school athletes in the Pensacola area. It prepares them for life after their sports careers, helping them think about their future beyond playing sports.
