Friedrich Alfred Krupp (born February 17, 1854 – died November 22, 1902) was a very important German businessman. He led the famous Krupp company, which made steel and other products. He took over the family business from his father, Alfred Krupp, in 1887.
Under Friedrich's leadership, the Krupp company grew a lot. He focused on making things for ships and defense. He helped develop new materials like nickel steel. He also supported the creation of U-boats (submarines) and the diesel engine. Friedrich Alfred Krupp died in 1902. His daughter, Bertha Krupp, later took over the company.

Early Life and Education
Friedrich Alfred Krupp was born in Essen, Germany. His father, Alfred Krupp, had already made the Krupp company very successful. It started as a small ironworks. But his father turned it into one of the most powerful companies in the world.
Friedrich was interested in science, especially nature. Because of this, his father even thought about letting one of his nephews lead the company instead.
Leading the Krupp Company
In 1887, Friedrich took charge of the Krupp company after his father passed away. He married Baroness Margarethe von Ende. They had two daughters, Bertha and Barbara.
His father had mostly sold iron and steel for things like railroads. But Friedrich changed the company's focus. He started making more products for defense again.
During his time as leader, he greatly expanded the Krupp company. In 1896, he bought a company called Germaniawerft. This gave him control over making warships in Germany.
He oversaw many important developments. These included nickel steel, U-boats (submarines), and the diesel engine. Krupp made the company's products more diverse. He also added other businesses to the Krupp Works.
Friedrich was also involved in politics. He was a member of the House of Lords of Prussia. He also served in Germany's Reichstag (like a parliament) from 1893 to 1898.
Life Outside Work
For four years, starting in 1898, Krupp spent several months each year on the Italian island of Capri. He stayed at the hotel Quisisana. He owned two yachts there, named Maya and Puritan.
His favorite hobby was oceanography, which is the study of the ocean. On Capri, he met other scientists like Felix Anton Dohrn and Ignazio Cerio.
After Friedrich's death in 1902, his daughter Bertha inherited the company. She later married Gustav Halbach.
