Friesland is a small, quiet place in Minnesota, United States. It's called an "unincorporated community," which means it's a group of homes and buildings that isn't officially a town or city with its own local government. Instead, it's part of a larger area called Dell Grove Township in Pine County.
You can find Friesland nestled between two other towns, Hinckley and Sandstone. It's right where a couple of county roads meet (Pine County 61 and Pine County 26). A cool fact is that an old railroad track, once used by the Northern Pacific Railway, now runs through here as the Willard Munger State Trail, which is a popular path for biking and walking!
A Look Back: Friesland's History
Friesland is located in the southeastern part of Dell Grove Township. This community got its name from a northern province in the Netherlands, which is a country in Europe.
For a while, Friesland had its own post office. This post office was open from 1896 until 1917. It helped people send and receive letters and packages in the area.
