Fulton is a city in Mississippi, United States. It is the main city, or county seat, of Itawamba County. In 2020, about 4,542 people lived there. Fulton is also part of the larger Tupelo area.

History of Fulton
Fulton is named after Robert Fulton. He was famous for inventing the steamboat. The city officially became a town on May 11, 1837. The U.S. post office opened in Fulton on July 26, 1837. This marked the start of mail service in the city.
Where is Fulton Located?
Fulton is in the western part of Itawamba County. The Tennessee–Tombigbee Waterway runs along its western side. This waterway is like a big canal for boats.
Travel and Roads
Interstate 22 and U.S. Route 78 go through the southern part of Fulton. You can get on these roads from Exit 104. I-22 goes west to Tupelo, which is about 19 miles away. It goes east to Hamilton, Alabama, about 25 miles away. Mississippi Highway 25 also passes through Fulton. It goes south to Smithville (14 miles) and north to Belmont (26 miles).
