Discovering the Fair's History
The Fulton County Fair started way back in 1858! That's a long time ago. It didn't happen a few times, like during the big wars (1917-1918 and 1942-1945). In 2020, because of the COVID-19 pandemic, they only had a special "Jr. Fair" for young people.
How Many People Visit?
Lots of people love to visit the fair! In 1972, over 100,000 people came during the week. In 2014, almost 300,000 people visited.
The fairgrounds can get super busy. On some days, more than 100,000 people come. That's more than double the number of people who live in Fulton County! In 2019, the fair broke its own record with over 340,000 visitors. This makes it the third-largest fair in Ohio.
Remembering 9/11 at the Fair
There's a special place at the fairgrounds called the Fulton County 9-11 Memorial. It has a huge steel beam that weighs 3,600 pounds. This beam came from Ground Zero in New York City, where the 9/11 events happened. The beam arrived in 2011, and the memorial was finished a few years later. It helps everyone remember that important day.
Fun Events at the Fair
The fairgrounds are busy all year long, not just during the main fair week!
