G.I. Joe Extreme was a popular line of military-themed toys. These toys were sold from 1995 to 1997. The company Kenner made them. Kenner had recently been bought by their old rival, Hasbro.
The G.I. Joe Extreme toys were created to take over from the earlier G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero toy line. That line had stopped being made the year before. Along with the toys, there was a cartoon TV show and comic books.
The story for G.I. Joe Extreme was a lot like the older G.I. Joe stories. It was set in the near future. A new G.I. Joe Team had to fight a dangerous group called S.K.A.R. This name stood for Soldiers of Khaos, Anarchy and Ruin. Their leader was a strong and mysterious military boss known only as Iron Klaw.

The G.I. Joe Extreme Toy Line
The logo for G.I. Joe Extreme looked like the very first G.I. Joe logo from the 1960s. The toy figures were made bigger than before. They were 5 inches tall instead of the old 3.75 inches. This new size helped show more details on the figures, especially their faces and muscles.
You could buy the figures in two main types: basic figures and deluxe figures. The deluxe figures were special. They came with a backpack that had a missile launcher. This launcher could shoot missiles by pushing a button on the backpack. There was also one special pack with two figures together. The vehicles and playsets also had this "Ultra SLAM Firepower" feature.
The Extreme toy line was not as successful as the older Real American Hero toys. It was stopped after its first set of toys. A second set of figures and playsets was shown at Toy Fair '96. However, only two of these new figures were fully released. The rest, including Mayday, the only female G.I. Joe in this line, were never sold.
