Garfield's Story
Garfield is an orange cat who lives with his owner, Jon Arbuckle. He was born on June 19, 1978. This was in the kitchen of an Italian restaurant called Mamma Leoni's. Jim Davis, the creator, named Garfield after his own grandfather.
When Garfield was a tiny kitten, he discovered his favorite food: lasagna. He loved it so much! Because he ate so much, the restaurant owner had to make a choice. He could either give Garfield away or close his restaurant. So, Garfield was sold to a pet shop.
Later, on August 19, 1978, Jon Arbuckle adopted Garfield from the pet shop. Garfield's birthday, June 19, 1978, is also the day his first comic strip was published. For his 25th birthday in 2003, some comic strips showed the older Garfield meeting his younger 1978 self.
Garfield often finds himself in funny situations. He might get stuck in window blinds or have silly fights with mice. Sometimes, he even gets locked up in animal shelters by mistake. In 2005, Garfield and Jon appeared in the Blondie comic strip. This was to celebrate Blondie's 75th anniversary.
Garfield's Personality
Garfield has a very distinct personality. He is known for being quite lazy. He also has a cynical and sarcastic sense of humor. He really dislikes Mondays and a cat named Nermal. On the other hand, he absolutely adores lasagna. He also often gets annoyed by Jon's dog, Odie.
