George Coppinger Ashlin (born May 28, 1837 – died December 10, 1921) was a famous Irish architect. He was especially known for designing many churches and cathedrals. He even became the President of the Royal Institute of the Architects of Ireland, which is a big honor for architects in Ireland.

About George Ashlin
George Ashlin was born in Ireland on May 28, 1837. His father was J. M. Ashlin. George went to school at St Mary's College, Oscott. After that, he learned from a well-known architect named Edward Welby Pugin. George later became Pugin's business partner in Ireland, working with him from 1860 to 1868.
He designed many important buildings across Ireland. One of his most famous works is Cobh Cathedral in County Cork. He also designed about fifty other churches. Besides churches, he built Portrane Asylum, a large hospital, which cost a lot of money at the time.
George Ashlin was a member of the Royal Hibernian Academy. He was also a Fellow of the Royal Institute of British Architects. In 1867, he married Mary Pugin. She was the daughter of Augustus Welby Pugin, another very famous architect. Augustus Pugin was known for bringing back the Gothic style in buildings.
