Gerald Hayes (born October 10, 1980) is a former American football player. He played as a linebacker in the National Football League (NFL). He was chosen by the Arizona Cardinals in the 2003 NFL draft. Hayes also played college football for the Pittsburgh Panthers.

Growing Up and High School Football

Gerald Hayes grew up in Paterson, New Jersey. He played high school football at Passaic County Technical Institute. During his time there, he played alongside future NFL players Marcel Shipp and Mike Adams.

College Football Days

After high school, Hayes went to the University of Pittsburgh. He studied Administration of Justice and was a key player on the football team. He was recognized three times as an All-Big East Conference player. By the end of his college career, he had made 402 tackles, 1.5 sacks, and caught two interceptions.

Gerald Hayes was drafted by the Arizona Cardinals in the third round of the 2003 NFL draft. This was a big step in his professional football journey.

Time with the Arizona Cardinals

Hayes played for the Arizona Cardinals from 2003 to 2010. On April 18, 2006, he signed a new contract to continue playing with the team. He was released by the Cardinals on July 28, 2011.
