Gervais is a city in Marion County, Oregon, United States. In 2020, about 2,595 people lived there. It is part of the larger Salem Metropolitan Statistical Area.

History of Gervais
The city of Gervais is named after Joseph Gervais. He was one of the first settlers to live in an area called French Prairie.
On October 6, 1902, a big fire broke out in the city's business area. Most of the businesses burned down in just over an hour. The local fire department could not stop the fire. Firefighters from Portland and Salem were called for help, but they could not arrive in time.
In the late 1960s, a group of Russian people called Old Believers started a small community near Gervais. As of 2002, Oregon had the largest number of Old Believers in the United States.
