The Yucca carnerosana, often called the giant Spanish dagger, is a tall plant from North America. It belongs to the asparagus family. This plant loves dry, desert-like places.

In the United States, you can find it naturally in only a few areas of western Texas. Here, it grows on rocky hillsides. But it is much more common in northern Mexico. It grows across a wide area there, including Coahuila, Durango, Zacatecas, and Nuevo León. Even though some local things might threaten it, the plant's overall population seems strong and healthy.

What it Looks Like

The giant Spanish dagger is a very tall plant. It can grow up to 20 feet (about 6 meters) high! It has many branches, making it look like a small tree. When it blooms, it produces beautiful snowy white flowers.

Where it Grows and is Used

This yucca plant is grown in several places around the world. You can find it in gardens and landscapes in the western United States. It also grows along the lower Pacific and Atlantic coasts of the United States. Some parts of southern Europe also cultivate this interesting plant.
