The Glasgow City Region is an important area in Scotland. It is in the western part of the country. This region is also called Clydeside. It sits near the River Clyde.

The Glasgow City Region is made up of eight local areas. These areas are called councils. They work together to help the people who live there.

Before 1996, these councils were part of a larger area. This bigger area was known as the Strathclyde region. It existed from 1974 to 1996.
