Glenwood is a neighborhood in North Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States. It is located near the North Philadelphia Station. The neighborhood stretches towards West York Street.

In 1988, two local residents worked together to improve Glenwood. Reverend Clarence Hester, a Baptist minister, and Carrie Hartsfield, who worked in insurance, started the Glenwood Community Development Corporation. This group aimed to make the area better for everyone living there.

Glenwood is generally bordered by several streets and avenues. To the south, you'll find York Street. This street separates Glenwood from the neighborhoods of Stanton and Templetown. To the east, Germantown Avenue forms another border, next to Fairhill. Finally, Glenwood Avenue marks the northern and western edges. This side of the neighborhood borders Nicetown–Tioga, Allegheny West, and Strawberry Mansion.

Glenwood is a neighborhood where many people live. It is mainly home to African-American people.

Understanding Glenwood's Population

According to the 2010 Census, most people in Glenwood were non-Hispanic black or African American, making up 88% of the population. About 7.8% of residents were Hispanic or Latino. White people made up 2% of the population, and Asian people were 1%. All other groups combined were 1.3%.

Even though Glenwood is mostly a black neighborhood, the number of Hispanic people living there is growing. This is especially true in the eastern parts of the neighborhood. These areas are right next to Germantown Avenue.
