Goiás Esporte Clube is a famous Brazilian sports club. It is best known for its awesome football team. The club is located in Goiânia, the capital city of the Goiás state in Brazil.

Goiás has won the Brazilian second-tier league, Campeonato Brasileiro Série B, two times. They won in 1999 and 2012. They have also won the Campeonato Goiano 28 times! This shows they are very strong in their home state.

The team has played in Brazil's top league, Campeonato Brasileiro Série A, many times. They have also competed in big South American tournaments. These include the Copa Libertadores twice and the Copa Sudamericana six times. In 2010, they were the runner-up in the Copa Sudamericana, which was a huge achievement!

Goiás has some big rival teams. These include Vila Nova, Atlético Goianiense, and Goiânia. Goiás usually wins most of the matches against these rivals.

Club History

Goiás Esporte Clube was started on April 6, 1943. A group of friends met at Lino Barsi's house and decided to create the club.

In 1973, the team moved up to the first division of the Brazilian league. This was a big step for them! In 1998, Goiás joined the Clube dos 13. This group is made up of Brazil's biggest and most important football teams. They also won the Série B in 1999 and again in 2012.

Home Stadium

Goiás plays its home games at the Serrinha stadium. This stadium can hold up to 14,450 people. Sometimes, the club also plays matches at the Estádio Serra Dourada. This bigger stadium was built in 1975 and can hold 50,049 people.

Força Jovem Goiás (FJG)

One of the main fan groups is called Força Jovem Goiás (FJG). It was started on May 23, 1997. The goal was to create a group of fans who truly loved Goiás. These fans are known for being very energetic and passionate. They have about 12,000 members.

Serrinha Headquarters
