Goochland is a small community in Goochland County, Virginia, United States. It is also the main town where the county government is located. In 2020, about 899 people lived there.
This community is sometimes called Goochland Courthouse. It got its name because the county's main court building is there. The county itself is named after Sir William Gooch. He was a royal governor of Virginia from 1727 to 1749.

Where is Goochland Located?
Goochland is found in the middle of Goochland County. It is just north of the James River. This river is an important natural feature in Virginia.
Roads and Travel
U.S. Route 522 goes right through the center of Goochland. This road leads north to Mineral and south towards Powhatan. Another important road, Virginia Route 6, also passes through Goochland. It connects the community to Richmond in the east and Columbia in the west.
Interstate 64 is about 7 miles northeast of Goochland. You can get to it from exits at Gum Spring or Oilville.

The Goochland community covers an area of about 11.7 square kilometers (about 4.5 square miles). Most of this area is land, about 11.6 square kilometers. A small part, about 0.1 square kilometers, is water.
