Good Hope is a small village located in McDonough County, Illinois, in the United States. In 2020, about 363 people lived there. It's a quiet place in the heart of Illinois.

History of Good Hope

Good Hope was first settled around the year 1840. In its early days, people sometimes spelled its name as "Goodhope" without a space.

Geography of Good Hope

Good Hope is in the northern part of McDonough County. U.S. Route 67 is a main road that goes through the village. It is known as Monmouth Street within Good Hope.

This road leads south about 7 miles (11 km) to Macomb, which is the main town of the county. If you go north on Route 67, you will reach Roseville about 12 miles (19 km) away.

The village covers a total area of about 0.30 square miles (0.78 square kilometers). All of this area is land. Water from the village flows into small streams that eventually lead to the La Moine River and then into the Illinois River.
