History of Goshen

In 1858, an important mail route called the Butterfield Overland Mail passed through the area near Goshen. Mail coaches would stop at a place called Head of Cross Creek Station. This stop was about 4 miles (6.4 km) northwest of where Goshen is today. It was a useful spot because Cross Creek split into two branches there, making it easier to cross.

Goshen itself was founded in the 1870s. Around this time, the Central Pacific Railroad was growing. In 1874, a new train line was built from Goshen to Visalia. This helped connect Goshen to other places and made it easier for people and goods to travel.
