The town's name, Gracemont, comes from two friends of the first postmaster, Alice L. Bailey. Their names were Grace and Montgomery.

Geography of Gracemont
Gracemont is located in the eastern part of Caddo County. It sits in the valley of Sugar Creek. This creek flows into the Washita River, which is part of the larger Red River system.
U.S. Route 281 goes right through the town. You can drive about 8 miles (13 km) south to reach Anadarko. Anadarko is the main town, or county seat, for Caddo County. If you drive north on Route 281 for about 12 miles (19 km), you will get to Binger.
The United States Census Bureau says that Gracemont covers a total area of about 0.17 square miles (0.43 km2). All of this area is land.
