History of Grafton
Grafton was started in 1874. It was probably named after a town called Grafton, Massachusetts. The name was also chosen to fit with the other towns along the new Burlington & Quincy Railroad line. This train line went west from Lincoln. The towns were named in alphabetical order, like Berks, Crete, Dorchester, Exeter, Fairmont, and then Grafton.
