Granite Hills is a special kind of community in San Diego County, California. It's called a census-designated place (CDP). This means it's an area that the government counts for population, but it's not an official city or town.

The name Granite Hills is also used for a neighborhood inside the nearby city of El Cajon. However, the CDP of Granite Hills does not include the people living in El Cajon. In 2010, about 3,035 people lived in the Granite Hills CDP. This number was a little lower than in 2000, when there were 3,246 residents.

Where is Granite Hills Located?

Granite Hills is found in San Diego County. It covers about 2.8 square miles (7.3 square kilometers) of land. All of this area is land, with no water.

However, people living in the El Cajon neighborhood nearby protested this plan. Even though the city council approved the annexation, a local government group called the San Diego Local Agency Formation Commission said no to the plan. So, the land remained part of Granite Hills.
