Major events in Jesus's life in the Gospels

The Great Commission is a super important message that Jesus gave to his followers after He came back to life (this is called His resurrection). He told his special friends, the Twelve Apostles, to go all around the world and tell everyone about Him.

You can read about the most famous version of the Great Commission in the Bible, in Matthew 28:16-20. In this part, Jesus meets his followers on a mountain in Galilee. He tells them to teach people to become His followers and to baptize them in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

A Message for Everyone

Before this, Jesus had sent out 70 of his followers to preach and heal, but they only went to Jewish people. However, Jesus himself had helped some people who were not Jewish before.

At the beginning of his public work, Jesus mostly spoke to His own people. But after He rose from the dead, He made it very clear that His message was for everyone, no matter where they came from.

Why is it Important?

This "commission" (which means a special task or mission) is very important to missionaries. Missionaries are people who believe that God wants them to travel to every country in the world. Their goal is to tell people about Jesus and His teachings.
