What is the Great Range?
The Great Range is like a long chain of mountains. It stretches for about twelve miles (19 km) (that's about 19 kilometers!). This range is special because it includes seven of the 46 tallest mountains in the Adirondacks, which are known as the High Peaks.
The Seven Peaks of the Great Range

Other Mountains Nearby
Sometimes, other mountains are talked about when people mention the Great Range. For example, Sawteeth is a smaller peak that branches off from Gothics. It's like a side trail from the main mountain.
Also, Marcy is the tallest mountain in all of New York. It's very close to the Great Range, and many people visit it. However, it's not officially considered one of the "historical" mountains that form the Great Range itself.
