How Water Flows from the Mountain

Water from Armstrong Mountain eventually makes a long journey to the ocean! The mountain is part of the watershed for the East Branch of the Ausable River.

  • Water from the east side of Armstrong Mountain flows into the East Branch of the Ausable River.
  • Water from the west side flows into Ore Bed Brook. This brook then joins Johns Brook, which also flows into the East Branch of the Ausable River.

The Ausable River then empties into Lake Champlain. From there, the water travels north into Canada's Richelieu River, then into the mighty Saint Lawrence River, and finally reaches the Gulf of Saint Lawrence in the Atlantic Ocean. It's a long trip for a raindrop!
