About the Show: Groove High's Story
Groove High is a comedy series that combines live-action scenes with animated parts. It follows a group of super talented students who go to a special school for performing arts. This school is a bit quirky and full of surprises!
The show starts with Jonathan Bailey and Samantha Barks playing Tom and Zoe. They are now famous rock stars on tour with their band. Between their concerts, they love to look back and remember their exciting days at Groove High.
Memories Come to Life
As Tom and Zoe remember their past, their memories turn into animated flashbacks. These animated scenes show all the funny and sometimes exaggerated things that happened at their high school. Tom and Zoe often interrupt these flashbacks. They might disagree about how things really happened, which adds to the comedy!
Making the Show: Behind the Scenes
Groove High was made by several companies working together. French animation companies Planet Nemo and Nexus Factory teamed up with Telegael, an Irish production company.
Bringing Characters to Life
The voices for the animated parts of the show were recorded starting in April 2010. The live-action scenes, where you see the real actors, were filmed in Ireland at Telegael Productions in October 2011.
Two companies, Jetoon in China and PASI in the Philippines, handled the animation. This means artists from different parts of the world helped create the look of Groove High.
The Music of Groove High
All the songs in the show, including the catchy opening theme, were created by Belgian composers Eric Renwart and Marja Supponen. The lead actors, Jonathan Bailey and Samantha Barks, sang these songs themselves.
An interesting fact is that during the show's production, Samantha Barks got a big role. She was chosen to play Éponine in the movie version of the famous musical Les Misérables.
