Groton village is in the southern part of Caledonia County. It sits in the southeast corner of the larger town of Groton. A main road, U.S. Route 302, goes through the village.

If you follow Route 302 southeast, you will reach Wells River in about 10 miles (16 km). If you go southwest for about 20 miles (32 km), you will arrive in Barre.
The Wells River
The Wells River flows right through Groton village. It then continues southeast until it joins the Connecticut River. The Connecticut River forms part of the border between Vermont and New Hampshire.
