Grow a Garden is a popular multiplayer idle video game that you can play for free on Roblox. It was released on March 26, 2025. In the game, players take care of their own garden by buying seeds and harvesting crops to earn game money.
The game became famous for having a huge number of people playing at the same time. This is often called the "concurrent user count" or CCU. On August 23, 2025, Grow a Garden set a world record with 22.3 million players online at once! This was even more players than other famous games like Fortnite.

How to Play 'Grow a Garden'
Grow a Garden is a farming-themed idle game. This means your crops will continue to grow in your garden even when you are offline and not playing!
When you start, you get an empty piece of farmland and some in-game money called Sheckles (¢). You can use your first Sheckles to buy carrot seeds. By planting seeds and harvesting the crops, you earn more Sheckles. You can then use this money to buy more seeds for different and more exotic plants.
To keep the game exciting, some seeds are only in stock for a limited time. The game also releases special items every week that you have to be online to get.
Pets and Special Items
Players can also get pets in the game by opening special containers called loot boxes. You can use Robux, which is Roblox's currency that can be bought with real money, to speed up how fast your crops grow, get special abilities, or even steal crops from other players.

In April 2025, when the game had about 1,000 players online at a time, a development team called Splitting Point Studios bought a share of the game to help it grow. Later, another company called Do Big Studios also became a part-owner.

The game became super popular because of its fun weekly updates that brought millions of new players.
- May 18: The "Blood Moon" update was released. The game reached about five million players at once, which nearly doubled the old record for any game on Roblox.
- May 31: The "Bizzy Bees" update brought the number of players up to an amazing 11.7 million.
- June 14: With the "Working Bees" update, the game hit over 16 million players. This was more than the record set by the famous game Fortnite in 2020.
- June 21: The "Summer Update" added new seeds and events, attracting 21.3 million players at its peak.
