Gustavo Endres (born August 23, 1975) is a famous former volleyball player from Brazil. For over a decade, from 1997 to 2008, he was a key player for the Brazilian national team. He played as a middle blocker, a position that requires being tall and quick to block the other team's attacks at the net.

He is a highly decorated athlete, which means he has won many awards. His biggest achievements include winning a gold medal at the 2004 Summer Olympics and a silver medal at the 2008 Summer Olympics. He also helped Brazil win two World Championships in 2002 and 2006. Because of his amazing defensive skills, he was named the best blocker at both the 2002 World Championship and the 2008 Olympic Games.

A Star on the Court

Gustavo had an amazing career playing for both professional clubs and his country. He was known for his powerful presence at the net, making it very difficult for opponents to score.

Playing for Brazil

Gustavo was a star on the Brazilian national team, which was one of the best in the world during his time. He helped the team win many important tournaments.

  • Olympic Games: He won a gold medal in Athens in 2004 and a silver medal in Beijing in 2008. He retired from the national team after the 2008 Olympics.
  • World Championships: He was part of the team that won the world title twice, in 2002 and 2006.
  • World League: He won the FIVB World League an incredible five times in 2001, 2004, 2005, 2006, and 2007.

Club Career

Besides playing for Brazil, Gustavo also played for several professional volleyball clubs in Brazil and Italy. He played for top teams like Sisley Treviso in Italy, where he continued to show his amazing blocking skills. He finished his playing career in Brazil with the team APAV Canoas.

Personal Life

Gustavo was born in Passo Fundo, a city in southern Brazil. Volleyball runs in his family! His younger brother, Murilo, is also a very famous volleyball player and played alongside him on the Brazilian national team.

Gustavo is married to his wife, Rachel. They have two sons, Enzo and Eric. Following in their father's footsteps, both Enzo and Eric also play volleyball.

Gustavo's skill as a middle blocker earned him many individual awards throughout his career. He was often recognized as the best player at his position in major tournaments.
