Hässleholm is a town in Sweden. It is the main town of Hässleholm Municipality in Scania County. About 18,500 people lived here in 2010.

How Hässleholm Grew
Hässleholm started growing around 1860. This happened because a major railway line was built. This line connected Stockholm to Malmö. Before the railway, there was no town here. The train station got its name from a nearby large estate. This estate was called a manor. Hässleholm became a city in 1914. It was one of Sweden's smallest cities then.
Military History
During the 1900s, Hässleholm became an important military center. It had many military bases. After the Cold War ended, most of these military places closed. Some were moved to other areas. The Cold War was a time of political tension, not actual fighting.

In 2000, Hässleholm opened its Cultural Center. It is called "kulturhus" in Swedish. This center has theaters and a library. It also has a visitor center and places to eat.

Robin Stjernberg was born in Hässleholm in 1991. He represented Sweden in the 2013 Eurovision Song Contest.
Local News and Politics
In 2023, a local businessman made some claims. He said the mayor, Hanna Nilsson, tried to get him to stop someone from appealing a city decision. The decision was about buying a building for an elderly care home. Because of these claims, two political parties left the local government. These were the Moderate Party and Christian Democrats. They asked the mayor to step down.
