Hässleholm Municipality (Hässleholms kommun) is a special area in southern Sweden. It is located in Scania County. The main town and administrative center of the municipality is Hässleholm.

This municipality was formed in 1974. Before that, the city of Hässleholm joined with seven smaller areas around it. Long ago, in 1863, there were 29 small local areas in this region.

The coat of arms for Hässleholm Municipality was created in 1920. It was officially registered for the new municipality in 1974. The cross on the shield stands for the railway lines that meet in Hässleholm. This is because the town grew up around a railway junction. The hazelnuts on the shield are a clever hint to the name Hässleholm. The name roughly means "Hazel-isle" or "Hazelnut Island".

Geography

Hässleholm Municipality is quite large. It covers about 1,306 square kilometers in total. This makes it the second-largest municipality in Skåne County by its total area.
