Tyringe's History
Early Mentions and Growth
Tyringe was first mentioned in writing way back in 1530. The meaning of its name isn't fully known. By the 1600s, a more organized village center started to form around the local inn.
The town really began to grow after a railway line opened in 1875. This railway connected Hässleholm and Helsingborg. Around the year 1900, Tyringe became famous as a popular vacation spot. People came to this spa town to try special mineral cure treatments from a mineral spring. Many hotels and inns were built then, including the fancy Tyringe Kurhotell in 1904.
Changes in Local Government
In 1928, Tyringe became a "municipal community." This was a special type of local area with its own rules. Later, in 1952, Tyringe became its own municipality. A municipality is like a local government area. In 1974, Tyringe Municipality joined with Hässleholm Municipality.
Industry and Community
In 1923, several metalworking factories opened in Tyringe. This brought more jobs and caused the town's population to grow.
Tyringe Church was built in 1925. Its design includes special stepped gables, which are common in the Scania region. The church's style was inspired by the much older Gumlösa Church, built in 1191. Tyringe has two schools for children: the Tyre School and the Vedhygge School. The Tyre School also welcomes students from nearby villages like Finja, Hörja, Matteröd, Röke, and Västra Torup.
Sports and Fun Activities
The Tyr Hov sports center is well-known across the country. Many sports teams come here for training camps. It has lots of great facilities for everyone to enjoy:
- An ice rink for skating and ice hockey.
- A 25-meter swimming pool with a water slide. There's also a smaller pool for kids and an outdoor pool for summer.
- A bowling hall for fun with friends and family.
- A large sports hall for various indoor games.
- An outdoor sports ground with grass and gravel football pitches. It also has a track for athletics.
- Jogging tracks of different lengths. There's an 1800-meter track that is lit up at night. You can also find 5K, 7K, and 10K routes through the woods. In winter, these tracks are used for skiing.
