She also became the first Israeli to win the Volpi Cup for Best Actress at the Venice Film Festival.
Early Life and Training
Hadas Yaron was born in Israel. She grew up in Tel Aviv. As a teenager, she went to Tichon Eroni Alef Art School. There, she studied theatre and acting.
After high school, Hadas served in the Israel Defense Forces (IDF). In Israel, it is common for young women to serve in the military. Hadas worked in the educational system. She helped guide groups of kids and teenagers at a boarding school. She described this time as "like a pause in your life."
Acting Career
Hadas Yaron began acting when she was eight years old. She got her first movie role in Out of Sight when she was 14. She played a younger version of the character Talia in flashback scenes.
During and after her time in the army, Hadas worked at a coffee shop. She needed to earn money. She found it funny to be serving coffee one day and then attending a fancy event the next.
In 2010, Hadas tried out for the movie Fill the Void. She won the main role of Shira. The movie's director, Rama Burshtein, said she knew Hadas was perfect for the part.
The movie Fill the Void is about a family in the Haredi Jewish community in Tel Aviv. Hadas's character, Shira, is 18 years old. She is asked to marry her older sister's husband after her sister dies. Hadas said the movie is about "emotions and choices." She found it challenging to show the special connection between Shira and her brother-in-law. This was because she had not played a romantic role before. Critics liked the movie and praised Hadas's acting. In September, she won Best Actress at the Venice Film Festival. She also won an Ophir Award, which is like Israel's version of the Oscars.
In 2013, Hadas had another important role. She played Libbi in the TV show Shtisel. Libbi is a Haredi woman and the wife of the main character, Akiva. The show was very popular in Israel. It also gained many fans around the world through Netflix.
In 2014, Hadas played another Haredi woman in the Canadian movie Felix and Meira. Critics praised her performance. They said she showed a natural brightness as her character, Meira, started to open up. They noted how her face lit up when she tried on jeans or saw the lights of Times Square.
In 2018, Hadas Yaron appeared in the film Mary Magdalene. She played the character Sarah. The movie was written by Helen Edmundson and directed by Garth Davis.
In 2024, Hadas appeared in the Hulu series We Were the Lucky Ones. She acted alongside Michael Aloni, Logan Lerman, Joey King, and Lior Ashkenazi.
