Hadley's Purchase is a unique area in New Hampshire, United States. It's a type of land called a "township." This area is located in the southern part of Coös County.
As of the 2020 census, no one lives in Hadley's Purchase. The entire area is part of the beautiful White Mountain National Forest. In New Hampshire, "purchases" are special areas. They are not part of any town and have very limited self-government. Many of these areas are uninhabited, just like Hadley's Purchase.

History of Hadley's Purchase
This area gets its name from a person named Henry G. Hadley. He bought about 8,000 acres (32 km2) of land from the state in 1834. He paid $500 for it, which was a lot of money back then!
Geography and Location
According to the United States Census Bureau, Hadley's Purchase covers a total area of 7.4 square miles (19.2 km2). All of this land is solid ground, with no large bodies of water like lakes.
The highest point in Hadley's Purchase is 3,180 feet (970 m) above sea level. This high point is found along its eastern edge. The most famous peak within the purchase is Mount Crawford. It stands 3,119-foot (951 m) tall and is located in the center of the area.
A major road, U.S. Route 302, runs nearby. It passes within about 0.4 miles (0.64 km) to 1 mile (1.6 km) of the purchase's southern and western borders. This road is in the neighboring area of Hart's Location.
