Halesite is a small community in New York. It is known as a hamlet and a census-designated place (CDP). Halesite is located on the North Shore of Long Island. It is part of the Town of Huntington in Suffolk County. In 2020, about 2,527 people lived there.

History of Halesite
Halesite got its name from Nathan Hale. He was a brave captain and spy during the American Revolutionary War. Nathan Hale landed at Huntington Harbor, where Halesite is now, just before he was captured. There is a special rock with a tribute to him. You can find it near the traffic circle at Mill Dam Road.
Early Transportation and Parks
From the mid-1800s until around World War I, a trolley line served Halesite. This trolley brought passengers from Amityville through Downtown Huntington. It ended at the northwest part of Halesite. Tourists enjoyed visiting Halesite Park. This park offered great views of Huntington Harbor.
Famous People in Halesite
Several well-known people spent time or lived in Halesite. These include the famous comedian and singer Fanny Brice. Also, George B. Cortelyou, a public servant and businessman, lived here. The brilliant scientist Albert Einstein also spent time in Halesite.
